Bird Atlas - make your sightings/pictures count!

    As you may know BirdWatch Ireland and RSPB are just finishing up a 4 year project to map the presence of all species of birds in UK & Ireland, in winter and breeding seasons. It will be an important tool for understanding changes in populations and directing conservation priorities etc.

    Givien the wealth of obsevations and pics on this forum, there is every chance you might be able to help improve the map, and help make future conservation efforts as useful as possible. Please see http://www.birdwatchireland.ie/Publications/eWings/eWingsIssue21June2011/BirdAtlasTheFinalCountdown/tabid/1186/Default.aspx for information on how to check the map for areas you know, and see if there are any missing species based on your sightings.

    Don't forget to check the winter records while you are at it, and record any unusual winter visitors you may have seen too.
