Grandaddy are reissuing their first 3 albums on LP in July and putting out a new 2CD edition of The Sophtware Slump on August 22. The second disc of the CD set looks pretty sweet. Most importantly it has She Deleter on it which is a killer Grandaddy b-side (from The Crystal Lake). Amazon lists the 19 tracks on the Sophtware Slump bonus disc as follows:

    He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot
    Our Dying Brains
    L.F.O.
    Wives Of Farmers
    Chartsengrafs
    N. Blender
    Wonder Why In L.A.
    Air Conditioners in the Woods
    Moe Bandy Mountaineers
    First Movement / Message Sent
    XD-Data-II
    Beautiful Ground
    Street Bunny
    She Deleter
What Can't Be Erased (Drinking Beer In The Bank Of America With Two Chicks From Tempe Arizona)
I Don't Want To Record Anymore
    Aisle Seat 37-D
    Hewlett's Daughter
Rode My Bike To My Stepsister's Wedding

Even though they sucked the one and only time I saw them (they played The Village in 2004 and were seriously snotty with the audience - it was their last ever gig as far as I know), I'm still really looking forward to the 2CD set. Plus, the LP reissue of The Sophtware Slump should put an end to the ridiculous prices the original pressing goes for on ebay.

This worked well with Pavement but I couldn´t really muster the interest to check out a 2 disc reissue of an album that was good but not great first time around. Grandaddy flattered to deceive.

I'm not too sure what you mean by this statement. But I would say Grandaddy overplayed a good hand alright. I'd disagree with you in that I think The Sophtware Slump is a great album, but I think unfortunately it's the band's only great album. There are brilliant songs on their other releases, but to me The Sophtware Slump is the only Grandaddy album that is completely free from filler.

I think their output was haphazard and that really had a bad effect on how they are perceived. Great songs were included on EPs rather than albums and so didn't get the credit or circulation they deserved and they just spread themselves too thinly. But if you actually look at all of their releases collectively I think it's fair to say they had enough good songs to put them ahead of the pack. And they had a couple of absolutely great songs (For the Dishwasher, He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot, Protected From the Rain etc).
