Cleaning agent used on dining table

My son thought it was a good idea to use a kitchen cleaning spray to a dark oak dining table

Not only that, but he laid it on thick!

Now it's lost it's shine and doesn't look like the same piece of furniture at all. From an angle it has a grey hue which I presume is the cleaning agents/bleach mixed with the wax.

Does it need to be stripped back now and redone from scratch?

You will need to remove all trackes of the cleaner use either hot soapy water or an alternative.
I would suggest investing in a high quality wax to feed the table and regain the shine, bees wax is very good, but just ask in a small local hardware store, they should be able to direct you.
