Cancelling and ReSubscribing to Sky

    Hi

Quick question, probably been asked before but I couldn't find previous thread.

We currently have a Sky Digital Subcription with a Sky DigiBox. Want to get Sky+ Subscription and Sky + Box at the same address, but don't want to be charged loadz in the process. The sky account is in my brothers name and the bank a/c is my fathers. What is the best option to take i.e. should I cancel the whole thing and setup from scratch in my own name. What are the pitfalls to watch out for, if any.

I did it this this week. The bank account details remain the same, just change the name on the bill. The offer that we got gave us two new SkyHD boxes, new dish and saved €10/mth for the year on subs (€5 on HD, €5 on multi-room). Installation fee was €50. Installer did the cancellation and re-sub for me.

Will will pay twice for the overlap period, but it's no big deal.

Did you have the same surname on the bill or completely different name.

I have done this a few times over the years.
Generally if the account is in a different name and different bank account from the current sub there was never any issues.

Installer told me that he would just change the first name, but when the first letter arrived he had used a different surname too.

Its the same surname. I'm going to try this later this week. I'll cancel both and let you know how I get on.

You can always use your Irish (Gaeilge) name. Sky's system cannot differentiate:)

It works so long as your postman can figure out where to deliver your new sky card.:)
