Few Questions Grant & BTEA

I am 23 and out of formal Eduction for about 1 year 2 months, I am also receiving Casual Job Seekers for 1 year 2 months. Would I be eligable for Third Level BTEA? The Problem is the Age.

I have been independent since 21 but no legal guardian. I became 23 after January 2011 but according to the Grant form I have to be 23 before 1st January 2011.. I can prove I have been dependant on myself, rent etc.

I can't find my birth Certificate, would passport do? I am not Irish born so getting my hands on a birth Certificate will be very hard if not impossible.

I really can't stand another year doing nothing useful with myself. :S

NOTE: I have a higher Certificate so now, I just want to finish the last remain 2 years. The Previous 2 years in College I was working part time and barely had a roof over my head. I don't know how I managed to pass because I had to work during college and cover my college loan. My Course is extremely hard and thats why I took a year out for a job but nothing.

    Thanks In advance.

Under the new grant scheme applicants under the age of 23 can apply as dependent candidates if (a) their parents are deceased or (b) if they are irreconcilably estranged from their parents. You will need to provide court or HSE documentation as evidence of (b) and death certs for (a).

You will find it difficult to make a complete application without a birth cert but you should contact your grant authority about that.
