    Hi,

I have some Chanel and M.A.C nail polishes which I want to sell on eBay, however, are there some countries these items cannot be sent to?

I remember before seeing in listings for designer goods that the designer goods couldn't be shipped to some countries because of customs? Could anyone point me in the direction of some information about this please?

    Thanks for any help.

My one and only suggestion would be to provide a tracking number with all shipments .
I know this is prohibitive at times , due to the cost in our main distribution company , ie An Post.
Buyers are not going to want to pay excessive shipping costs for low-value items .

We buy from a company in the Far East and this is their motto :
Rules are different in every country. Unfortunately there is no way for us to know the rules, regulations, customs, traditions, practices, loopholes, schemes, systems, paperwork, codes, laws, or rulings of every single country.
Therefore, we cannot, and will not, offer advice about taxes in your country. As a buyer, it is your responsibility to find out related information before you order.

But remember , that providing a tracking number will only give you information on the whereabouts of your package .
If one of your items is held/destroyed by Customs , the buyer will still claim non-delivery and you will lose out .

You ask to be pointed in the right direction , so see this link - The Customs are your best friends :

    Thank you so much.

I only ever send via registered/insured post, I wouldn't even consider using standard post anymore.

I don't actually mean customs in Ireland, I meant customs in foreign countries such as Italy, Germany, Belgium etc, these are countries I have seen people say they won't ship to because of those countries customs, not customs in the sellers country.

I understand exactly that you mean Customs in foreign countries.

Your local Customs have manuals , and these manuals give a summary of the regulations in all countries worldwide . - So a call to the Irish Customs may point you in the right direction.

There are sellers on eBay that will only sell to certain countries , but I reckon they choose this option mainly from personal experience .

In my opinion , if the branded goods you are selling are approved by the owners ( in your case Chanel and Mac ) you should have minimal issues with Customs .

But remember , if the Customs ' form an opinion ' that the designer goods may not be ' not owner branded ' - you will have issues .
