    Hey all,
Sorry for asking any stupid questions. I like watching and playing darts. Usually between friends. Its a great game.
Was talking with a friend eariler (poker mad mate) and he was questioning if darts had a similiar format of games in pubs .... I honestly didnt know.

Now by "format" i mean a game thats held in the pub where the winner takes all on the night. A tournament. I honestly dont know of any (silly me?) Like, All I hear about is pub darts teams and leagues.

So does something like this take place regularly in pubs? (and im stupid :P ) or its not a thing for darts? Now i know there are competitions. But in the scheme of in the pub, on one night type of thing happen?

    cheers.

Is there competitions that start and end on the same night? yes I'd say alot of towns have a weekly or monthly one too.

I'd say only the ones with very few entrants are winner takes all. Around here winner takes 2/3's, runner up 1/3 rounded to the nearest €5, some comps the semi finalists even get there entry fee back.

Thanks for getting back lads and yeah i mean when winner takes all, top 3 (or 4 as Macker states)

I mean most pubs i know of have darts teams / leagues. But near enough every pub has poker nights where top 3 (usually top 3) take the pot/prize. Wonder why theres not more darts games like this (or at least in my area - from north dublin)

In poker, theres a reg fee (that the organizer of the game keeps) ... whats the "reg fee" in that game you mentioned macker? (i imagine the guy running it is getting something :pac:)

Usually €5 but sometimes €10 a head for the monthly ones around here entry but its 100% money in, money out.

Usually with the pub throwing an extra 50 to 100 quid in depending on how many punters it brings. So on a night where theres only 16 prize money would be 140 which would be divided 95-45. On a busy night where theres 32 or there abouts it'd be 175 and 85 etc...

Organiser gets nothing, except maybe free entry and a free drink if publican is in a good mood.

    thats kinda strange.
but i guess its all situational. Like if someone was organising a darts night and he was using the pubs own dart boards ... then yeah. he really shouldnt be taking a cut.

    but padr81, can i ask a question?
lets say an organiser brings 5 dart boards (+ stands etc) to a pub. Would it be reasonable to have a reg fee? ... and if so, how much?

so therefore, not winner takes all

same idea as "home game" in poker for your mate. Depends on the home/pub and what they wanna do or how many people involved.

So are you gonna use likes of a dartsmate or want the pub to allow you to drill a load of holes in the walls? Suppose depends on how much room the pub has and if it can facilitate. Sounds like your trying to get your own dart nite on the go :D
