Just got back from hols in Spain and turned the Sky box back on - as part of reboot there was message saying that software upgrade was happening.

Now the ability to remove SKY card to get UK EPG has been disabled so no more BBC1HD / C4HD grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Any ideas if this can be undone ?

I believe its got to do with moving FEC to 8/9 which Sky boxes are not capable of doing.

Dont believe it is possible to remove a Sky software update.

If you get a Thomson DSi8215 it should still work. But you'll lose other features.

Don't know if this is connected, but I recently got an on screen message on the Sky HD box to the effect that new software had been downloaded.
Two problems have appeared.I cannot record BBC Radio 5L,with it being severly edited,ie it skips mid sentance and repeats itself.
This all seems to have come about after I complained to Sky that BBC HD had gone due to the S2 affair, thanks BBC.
Last evening I watched the end of BBC proms on HD,and noticed sound badly out of sync ,thought initially this could be the acoustics in the hall.
But it was followed by the final episode of "The Kennedys",so badly out of sync as to make it unwatchable.
This is such a major technical fault and I assume the problem lies with my equipment, and that smart people monitor these things.
If you are unhappy with Satellite tech problems ,wait till you see DVB-T over on the Terrestial boards and the HD difficulties!
