Don't know about you guys but I'm 33 and Sue-Ellen was responsible for my first boner.

And now, she and JR and Bobby et al are about to come back in a David Koresh-messiah-like reproduction and I'm very happy.

I don't care if it's going to be crap. It very well might be out of this world.

I'm just glad that our last images of such wonderful characters are not confined to the echelons of 1980's VHS tapes.

And, for the record, can we keep this to AH as this particular programme was an institution in many of our lives.

Indeed, the images and sounds of South Fork, Larry Hagman, Victoria Prinicple and others resonate to many our age as does the music of Glenroe which, whenever I hear it, tells me I have to do something presently.

i.e. Homework, cause on those nights, school was happening in one sleep's time.

Dallas was OK. I don't really remember many of the story lines as I used to use it as an excuse to stay up an extra hour and was too interested in the toys I was playing with while occasionally glancing at it - folks didn't care cos they were glued to it.

I'll give the new one a watch, ya....hopefully there'll be more chuddies in this one!

    Dallas really was breathtaking.

Dynasty and Falcon Crest used the same formulas but not to quite the same success.

Anyone my age cannot deny that Dallas was, in some way, present in their family's lives.

Yes, if we were to look at the series now, objectively and with modern knowledge in our possession, we wouldn't see it as particularly special.

But bear in mind, this was before HBO, AMC, TNT etc.

If I could add 5million + to Biggins post.

It was awful first time around. For some reason, normally sane people became fixated with a stupid tasteless tv series devoid of any artistic merit whatsoever.

    Ok.

So, give us a litany of quality programmes that came about at the same time.

And while you're at it, define "normal" and "sane".
