Can anyone tell me how high registrations went to in Meath in 1997 before imports started to get added on?

I just wanted to know if my car is an import or not as it's high up in the numbers for the year.

So I was wondering when did they stop registrations for that year on new Irish cars in 1997 in Meath, e.g 97 MH 2000 and then start registering used imports e.g 97 MH 2001 from Britain and other countries

That method won't give you a definite answer, as cars would have been imported during 1997 too.;)

That's a brilliant buy if it runs as well as described. Did you get a mechanic to look it over? If the mileage is genuine that's very low

Nah, I'm familiar with them and gave it the once over myself. For the price I didn't think it worth bothering a mechanic over but ya it all checked out ok and I'm happy out.

Long test drove and left it ticking over on it's own for 15 minutes to check the HG while I walked around and examined all the weak points and my new pipework underneath

I'd say between 3000 and 3500 (4000 max) new cars would be about right for MH around '97.

Congrats! The registration document will give you both the date of first registration and the date the car was first registered here. Hope the hood doesn't leak!

I hear those MGF's can sometimes do a good impression of a kettle....

Only kidding, John.:p The MGF has always been a favourite of mine and that one looks great for a grand.

    Just a small update:

    Everything went perfect :)

There are a few things to sort out, the roof doesn't seal at the drivers side but this could be due to the window not rising correctly, the suspension needs a pumping, one alloy is bucked and new tyres all round are needed and finally the bonnet release cable came adrift of the lock but it isn't meant to be hard to fix/bodge

After that it shall hopefully just be me sorting out whatever kind of interior I want and getting the paint work looking respectable!

Happy out and I think I got a bargain. All of the work the seller said he has done is also done.
