help-Cars Northern Ireland???

    This may seem a ridiclious question, i know absolutely squat about the car trade but---
    Can you trade in an Irish Reg car in Northern ireland????

    Please no abuse but this is to settle an argument. Thanks

    Of course you can, people do it all the time. But if you mean can you trade in a 26 county reg, as such a car would not be interest locally then that would require the garage to be willing to lay off the vehicle to the trade in the South. Some places do this, where they have significant cross-border business.

    It only costs something like £55 to import a second had car into the UK, so any garage trading in can rereg fairly cheaply. The problem with this is you will probably get the UK value (which in most cases is less than the Irish value)

    A friend with a garage in Tyrone sometimes rings me to underwrite southern reg trade-ins.
