Brilliant video. Some fantastic aircraft on show and some brilliant liveries(and some horrendous ones too!) from airlines no longer in existence.

That shot at the end with Concorde taking it's unusual arc to avoid residential areas with the WTC in the background had the hairs on the back of my neck on end!

AFAIK that's EI-BXI which was "Applingus" cross of the Apple Vacations + AerLingus plane.
I believe that the AerLingus on the side was taken off in late 2000. IIRC it was crudely done and the green around where it used to say AerLingus was not matching the rest of the plane.

was it not world airlines that had a crest on the tail over the green aer lingus?

And the MD-11 was there in summer 98 and summer 2011. same aircraft both times.

Was the MD-11 perhaps a replacement for the L-1011 Tristar AL had at one point ?

EI had a MD11 on wet lease it was done up in the EI colours I remember seeing it on the ramp around 2001,From memory it didnt do much flying with EI and shortly after 9/11 it was handed back to the lessor due to the turmoil the airline was going through also I heard that it was then leased to possibly World airlines who transport US mil guys around the world and rumor has it that while transporting troops the shamrock was still on the tail Manic might be able to confirm this.
It's a pity we don't see many of the aul tristars in Dublin anymore the last ones I saw was the B727F belonging to ACL Dub has to be one of the most boring places for plane spotters as it's normally B737 or A319 hardly any wide bodies like the 777 747 or A340 and of course the work horse of the industry the good aul DC10/MD11.

Have to agree that Dublin airport is about as exciting as watching paint dry these days - it's as bad as Aldergrove

I remember reading when world took the aircraft(md11) back the ei decals weren't removed for a good while, the aircraft flew us troops into mid east/ iraq. Some people were pist off by the fact the green colors were not painted over.

Well i just bought a push bike with the intentions of loosing a bit of weight, going to pop up to the airport 7-8am Saturday morning to do a bit of plane spotting/cycling.Are the yank carriers using anything larger the 767/757?

When i flew back from norway a few weeks back i noticed a dl 330 landing 10,that was kinda cool but nothing new.

Not that I can think of. Air Canada may use their 777, but I don't think they do (I think it's the 767 they use on the seasonal route), United is codeshare with EI (how long will that last I wonder with the new merger, Continental I think uses 757, USAirways uses 757 as well and American uses 767.

Nope, just 757s, 767s and A330's. But if your going on Saturday you might see the Air France 747 Cargo. :)
