Pistol mag ejecting automatically due to holster issue

I remember seeing a Oddy review where he showed a gizmo which prevented pistol mages being ejected during skermishing due to the mag release hitting off the holster.

Was wondering if anybody knew where these could be found or even remember the video?

im not aware of a gizmo for that issue but there are several things you can do to make sure when you pull ur pistol the mag is still there and not in the safe zone :D they range from practical to expensive. The practical as anyone else will suggest is electrical tape. The proper way to do it (imho) is get either a SERPA or a FOBIUS holster. I got a SERPA clone here and unless someone comes out with a Robocop type holster i dont plan on changing :D. Clone is the cheap unless you feel going all out and buying the real thing which is around 120 $ if my memory serves me right.

I have the same Serpa and love it, its really secure and the clones are actually good quality aswell.
I'll admit I'm heavy on some of my equipment due to my being the first into the action and having no problems with diving over or under things so I tend find out if something is going to last or not.

One thing I will say is that with some SERPA clones check the metal bar for the release catch as some of them have it that the bar may slide out *chances of that are slim as its a tight fit but still be aware of it*. the fix is just applying a small amount of glue to the hole to seal it and your sorted.

A piece of bike innertube cut to about 3 inches works well. Fold it flat, cut a V in one side about half an inch from the bottom, and fit it over the grip. The lower half inch should slip over your mag baseplate and keep it in :)

Or just use a nice solid frame holster, that wont eject your mag :)

I've used airsoft, and real steel fabric holsters, and never found one as reliable as a solid frame one... be they kydex, serpa, saffariland, or uncle mike... airsoft mag releases are far far weaker than real steel ones, and as such, the button presses too easily.

Believe it or not I was actually thinking of this. The MamGyver aspect appeals to me big time :D:D:D

The free aspect agrees with me more :P

though as a serpa user, ive not used it in a long time.

I think I'll share the free idea with some guys I know who are experiencing the issue.
    :P

    @Firekitten

Any idea where to pick up Serpa holsters (preferable drop leg), what would be considered a good price for one and as I have a KJW M9 Beretta and a KJW M1911 PD, would I need a separate holster for each side arm or would the one holster do for both ?

Apologies for all the questions :o

For serpa holster model, you would need a different one for each gun. This is due to how it holds the gun in place.
I'd have to go and take a look at the irish retailers again to check which ones have it in stock.

Best prices would be the likes of ehobby tbh.

Checked ehobby and don't see any serpa type hosters. Not much on Ebay either and I have not seen them for sale on any of the Irish sites either :( So it looks like I will be going to Blackhawk.com when funds allow :D as I will want on for my M9 Beretta and my M1911 :eek:

Looks like I will be using the bike tube for a while yet :o

i believe you are looking for this for 1911 and this would be the interchangeable part for you M9 . I dont think you can get em cheaper for clones.

Cheers dinko4gr really good prices :)

Though the first link is for a USP compact rather than a 1911, I did find the same type holster for the 1911. The second link I am not sure about as I am not sure what type of Beretta I have, but I think it is an M9A1

So I have a few more questions if I can
    1. Do you only need to buy one actual drop leg platform, and then you can add different actual holsters on to this?
    2. I have this M9 from KJW, does anybody know whether this is a Beretta M92, M96 or M9A1? I am guessing that it's the M9A1 version, but am not sure.
    3. Would all three Beretta models fit in the same serpa/clone holster? I ask because EbairSoft have a holster for the Beretta M92/M96 but have nothing specifically for the M9A1, while the real Black Hawk have a holster specifically for the Beretta M9A1.
    4. Would a Black Hawk M9A1 holster fit on a clone Platform do you think?
