It looks like i'll be booking some flights soon as there are no Irish dates. European Tour from Rhymesayers, line up of Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Blueprint, Grieves & Budo.
Rhymesayers Entertainment is proud to announce its first ever European label tour, in association with Carhartt. Atmosphere are the blueprint for how to make independent hip hop successful, matching excellent albums & live shows with an unparalleled touring schedule. Their hard work has not only put Minneapolis on the map but also helped to build the ever-expanding Rhymesayers label. Rhymesayers’ roster boasts much of the cream of the hip hop world and the Rhymesayers European Tour, fifteen years in the making, is the perfect showcase for a label which has gained legendary status on its own terms.
The Rhymesayers European Tour will be headed by Atmosphere, who released their latest opus The Family Sign this year. It reached number 12 on the US Billboard Charts and cemented their position as the brightest light in independent hip hop. The four-piece are consummate entertainers Having already rocked sold-out shows at London’s Koko and Scala as well as playing across Europe to packed crowds including this year’s Sonar Festival.
Brother Ali is assured a warm welcome in Europe, having served as main support and hype man for Atmosphere as well as selling out headline shows at the Barfly and Cargo in London and performing to a big crowd at last year’s Glastonbury. His laid back but always engaging flow and lyrical content, found on his albums Us and The Undisputed Truth, amongst others, has helped him gain an army of fans always ready to listen to the wise MC.
Evidence made his name as a member of Dilated Peoples, the West Coast underground titans. He’s worked with everyone from Kanye West to Aloe Blacc and will be showcasing his solo album Cats and Dogs, due September 26th. A headliner in his own right, his inclusion shows just how strong this line up is.
Blueprint is an MC and producer from Ohio, and one half of Soul Position with renowned producer RJD2. A firm Rhymesayers favourite, this will be the first time he has performed tracks from his 2011 album Adventures in Counter-Culture.
Grieves & Budo are the latest signings to Rhymesayers and have begun their label career with a splash, gaining fans across the board from hip hop to rock as they wow crowds on the 2011 Warped Tour with material from the new album Together/Apart. The Seattle natives are sure to have the crowd hollering back from the very start.
As well as releasing much-lauded albums from the artists on this tour, Rhymesayers’ catalogue includes albums by the likes of MF DOOM, Freeway, Jake One, Eyedea & Abilities and P.O.S. Rhymesayers also run the Soundset Festival every year in their home State of Minnesota, which this year saw 20,000 revellers descend on the outdoor festival.
The Rhymesayers European Tour is a unique opportunity to see a plethora of exceptional artists on one stage. No other independent hip hop label could pull off a tour with this depth of talent – it’s a rare treat for rap fans, and it would be a crime to miss out.
    Stay tuned for ticket information!

    Great video.

I'm uber jealous. Turns out that it was the worst time for them to have a European Tour as my missus is away at the moment and I have to look after the boy, and next week I cant take time off work..... :(

Ah that sucks dude. Sure at least in the future you can take the kid with you and put him on the right path.

Slug is one hell of a down to earth dude (as are all of them, got talking to most of them at some point in the night) he came outside before the show and walked down the queue shaking hands, thanking people for coming and posing for pictures. Ant was drunk as **** afterwards (big surprise) and got all sincere when I told him I flew from Belfast "Aw man you've no idea how much that means to me" lol

    Still buzzing 3 days later.

There is still a small chance that I might get to one of the last dates on the tour. Just have to wait and see.
I think it might be too late with this child, his mother has him corrupted with Radiohead and Reggae.

Yeah, Slug and Ant are real cool and easy to talk to. Last time I talked to Ant we ended up talking about petrol prices which was odd but strangely cool.
