    Hi,
Can size 16's wear white jeans/trousers? I have always been told never to wear them as they make you look much larger..Is this true...I have actually never even tried on a pair.

Well, it would depend on how they are worn and the fit etc, but as for the making you look larger thing that's white in general, black makes you look thinner because dark colours appear to have a smaller surface area, whereas bright white looks larger because all of it is highlighted, no shadows/chance of blending in with anything else.

I think it depends entirely on the way you wear them. I'm bigger than you OP and I have a pair of white bootcut jeans that I love. I always wanted to try them but never had the balls til this summer.

I wear them with a dark colour on top to balance it out, and make sure my top is very structured to offset the 'making me bigger' possibility. (Then again I just go for structured tailoring anyway)

I never really bought into the whole 'black makes you look smaller' thing. I get the reasoning behind it but I just think it makes people look blah and boring and then you see them as frumpy. Nothing wrong with wearing black, it's just become a uniform for so many women...

When I was that size I found a perfectly cut pair in pennys that I`ve since passed onto my sister after I lost weight they made me look a size smaller everyone said they were nice.

My cousin is a size 16-18 and she has a lovely pair of white trousers (think they are linen?) and they look fantastic on her - very classy but casual. She always used to wear black trousers as people say black makes you look slimmer - but she got loads of compliments on the white ones, she's delighted, and I don't think they make her look any bigger than the black ones.

I wouldnt, unless you have very good legs. I am a size 10 in jeans and wouldnt wear them, they do highlight everything. Try them on though, they may be nice. Not all size 16s are the same.

You can if you know how - wear bootcuts or flares rather than skinnies, pairing them with heels will lengthen your legs, and wear a top that fits well but doesn't swamp you either. It's all about how you wear them :)

Of course you can wear white jeans. Last year as a size 18 I wore a well fitting pair of white jeans and to be honest I felt great in them. Also I was TOLD I looked great in them. Wear with a nice top or if you want to dress them up a bit with a nice jacket and heels.

Try on lots of pairs and get a good fitting pair for your figure. I went for boot legged.
