i was woundering is there many taxi's in the area or am i gonna have to bring myu walking shoes and a map to find my way around.

Is it full of Irish or English or mixture of both?.

Any ideas what to do over there beside going down the strip everynight. Also i cant locate any strip on the map.

Going over sunday with my girlfriend both 22.

I've been to Albufeira twice - to the Old Town both times. Praia D'Oura is a good bit away from the old town but you could walk along the beach to it, would take maybe 20-30 mins (strolling pace, not fast walking)! :) The Old Town is lovely! There are lots of tourists around but it still has a nice atmosphere to it. There are plenty of taxis, your hotel should be able to call you one and they only cost about 4euro a trip!

In relation to the strip, I've never been. The Old Town has loads of pubs and restaurants to eat in so we never ventured in. I think it's Montechoro though - not sure though!

If you are looking for something good to do, the water park, Slide & Splash is a good day out and also Quad ventura (http://www.quad-ventura.com) is great fun!

I've stayed in Praia da Oura the 4 times I've been to the new town in Albufeira. I would say it is the best place to stay in Albufeira...beside the beach and beside the strip.
The strip is "Av. Dr. Francisco Sa Carneiro" on google maps.
Probably a 15 minute walk to it from your accommodation.
The Old Town can be reached by getting the "Wally Train" / tourist train...which stops opposite Ancora Bar in the middle of the strip. You pay a few euros for unlimited rides in a 24 hour window.
Albufeira is full of all nationalities...portuguese obviously, lots of english, scottish, irish, dutch, german.
As for ideas what to do...obviously take the Wally Train to the old town...during the day to take in Fisherman's Beach...may be go there at night time (though I didn't do that).
We went to Zoomarine to see a dolphin, seal, parrot, eagle shows...we went to a waterpark called Slide and Splash...the jeep safari was very good, out from about 10am to 6pm seeing the countryside etc.
The strip itself is entertaining just walking up and down it in the evenings...good big irish bar at the top called Erin's Isle.
Also fascinating to see the strip's late night police force...loads of Jean Claude Van Dammes wannabes...young and built like tanks. But for the 4 times I went (since 2007) I haven't seen any trouble at all.
You and your girlfriend will have a great time.
