Advice: Nightclub Opens New Entrance...

Just looking for some quick advice. I live on a busy-ish, narrow, pedestrianised street in Dublin. A nightclub situated on the next block opened up its rear fire escape as a 2nd entrance to the club (Before last Christmas). The problem is this 2nd entrance isn't too far from my bedroom window.

It was grand at first, little to no noise. My flatmate asked a bouncer and he said they had no intentions of letting people smoke outside that door or letting noise escape from the club. The purpose was purely to attract passers by on my street.

Slowly but surely its now become a smoking area, noise is escaping from the club and I'm not sleeping. It's a narrow enough street, and I've always lived in busy spots, with lots of traffic, and it's never bothered me before. But a bunch of people less than 20 yards from my window, full of booze, until 4am some nights (yep they hang around afterwards) is something very different.

Do I have any rights in this scenario?

    Thanks in advance.

It would be best if you had a word with a solicitor. Or even the local citizens advice centre. the only answers you will get here are peoples opinions which won't really solve your problem.
I hope you get it sorted.

Maybe get on to your local plaaning department and ask for their view on it. AFAIK if they change that door from an emergency exit to a permanent entrance, then they need planning permission. I could be wrong though.

Why not talk to the manager/owner of the nightclub? I'm sure a bouncer isn't going to be making any policy decisions! I live right beside a restaurant which I was having some trouble with some months ago. Spoke to the manager reasonably and politely and haven't had any problems since.

First off, a polite word with the owners.

POA is drop in and ask to speak to the manager later, but it would be handy to know in advance if they do nothing I can take it further.

I used work in clubs years ago, and usually the attitude to people complaining about noise was 'f**k them'. Oh how the tables have turned!

    Thanks for the advice guys

Thread closed. We don't do advice at all. Sorry about that.
