Hope the mods here don't mind a separate thread from that of the betting one.

Hopefully this thread won't be filled with the drivel of the last couple of years! (ie: McIlroy's nationality -_-)

    _

Rory just teed off, good drive down the first, a tad right. Second shot just through the green.

    Greens are really firm !

Fowler just holed a monster putt for birdie on the 1st. Bogey for McIlroy.

Great seeing Bjorn doing well already. Doubt anyone would begrudge Bjorn winning. Open 03 final day is still quite vivid in my mind, especially his collapse in the bunker on 16.

    Bjorn leading atm.

The hoodie is a joke in fairness but he's well able to play, some story for Bjorn but would be surprised if he kept it going for 72 holes.

Had a stream on veetle.com right up until Rory teed off and then it was disabled due to copyright or some excuse like that!! Anybody got an online stream?

This (and the moronic interviewer who couldn't even remember Fowler's name) sealed the switch over to Setanta for me. Putting up with ads is much better than putting up with the awfulness of BBC.

Eh, he's from Monaghan! I know he fought in the Commonwealth games, but he's still from the Republic, declaring for Britain that time was simply to be eligible to fight for more titles. If he won nothing then you wouldn't hear him being called Northern Irish.

He has represented Northern Ireland though has has dual citizenship. The BBC will obviously claim him :P

LOL what a birdie John Daly!

Lord Jaysus. 2 pages in and it starts already.

On more important matters, Rory's made a fairly nervous looking start. He's probably feeling a bit of pressure to perform. His lag putting isn't great at all. Pin positions are devious given the wind.

Seriously. No one gives a crap. we just want to talk about golf in golf forums.

Anyone else frustrated by the amount of shots the BBC miss?

Either they miss a shot completely and don't replay it later, or they'll show the player take the shot and the cameraman will invariably lose it in the air. Bit annoying.

yeah its poor enough coverage thus far in my opinion. too much time spent watching the main group walking, etc and then when they are hitting their shots they have missed 2/3 of them.

Im a big BBC golf coverage fan but I've got to say this mornings coverage is piss. Too much coverage of the McIlroy group and not enough of the field

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 396 ✭✭Opics

The 9:09 tee time has always been shown in great detail. It was Tiger's tee time for the last 6 or so years.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Tearing up the course is Bjorn!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 751 ✭✭✭BiffoGooner

BBC cameramen are rubbish. Can't even follow the ball on 80 yard pitch shots. Awful coverage, in general so far actually.

Great par save by Rory there, stays +1.

And moving away at vital times - most obvious was the putt for McIlroy on the first par 3 (i think) where they missed the start of it and just came back when it missed left. I love the no breaks but I think its not quite at the level that Sky Sports offer. Never watched it on Setanta so not sure what they are like. True Opics the 9.09 group is the main one but when they follow it as closely as this they should be showing us the critical shots members of this group are playing, for me they have missed 3/4 vital and interesting ones

you know what really annoys me about bbc coverage is that when they show the leaderborad they never go past the first two pages

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 542 ✭✭✭Young_gunner

Rory just spat on the course - i've never seen such disrespect for anything in all my life, oh my God, he should be given a 5 shot penalty, fined and expelled from the tour.

What kind of example is he to the children.

Oh wait, he's not Tiger Woods, its perfectly fine.

Really?? A British channel paid for by British people with British TV license money paying more attention to British players, not really that suprising! I always enjoy the BBC coverage, my pick is Jason Day (by the way!)
