A country that has booed its own tennis players at Roland Garros.

Not going to condemn any nice individual French people, but as a nation France are not my favourites.

Ce soir (alors, maintenant (pour moi au moins), demain soir) on va boire du VIN pour feter la naissance de la première république modèrne ! ALLEZ !

The French do not call today 'Bastille Day'.

They call it La Fête Nationale.

Whatever you think about the French, you cannot deny they have the best wine, women and language in the world.

Happy Bastille Day. I like the French "pffft" attitude and as a nation they are rather individualist. It really flys in the face of American and British Conservatism.

These are all true. I'm actively jealous of French women..how do they pull it off? I remember I was in a cafe here in Madrid one day and was getting the eye from some guy across the bar. As I walked out, he followed me and asked me was I French and I told him no, I was Irish, like Shane McGowan, the guy with no teeth (don't know why I said that). He looked disappointed to the extreme and just walked off. Haha! SOUND!

The wine is delish and the language had some thought put into it. If I could change my nationality, I'd opt to be French, I reckon. Well done France!

The French are an odd one. Although i love the footballers they have produced over the years, i don't like the part they played in fighting the British Empire. Although i like napoleon for his general skills. Happy that Arthur Wellesley got the last laugh in the end.

You must also have issues with, America, India, Japan, South Africa, China, Germany, Spain, Zimbabwe, Ireland (obviously), Italy, Russia, Turkey, Palestine/Israel, I could go on but would wear out my keyboard typing the names of all the countries that were fighting Britain/England (often to try and prevent genocide or enslavement) at some stage or another.

I miss the French holidays, the wine, the Bastille Day fireworks on the beach at St Jean-de-Monts, driving on their roads, Puy du Fou, your wife getting her purse back with everything still in it after she dropped it (where else in the world would that happen?), the world's greatest cycle race, the weather...

Ah, sh1t, I'm going to be depressed now.

    Allez France!

If you do go, my advice is to get the hell out of Paris as quickly as possible. Millions of tourists over the years have left the locals with a schizoid superiority complex: if you don't speak the lingo in a perfect Parisian accent, they hate you by default. See the sights, then hit the TGV. I intend to visit Cognac at some point: go on, ask me why. :o

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

If you can speak German, they're a lot more polite, and they give you a lot of free gifts, as well as allowing you to even run the country.

I wished my French housemate a happy Bastille Day and she got annoyed complaining that I shouldn't be commemorating the vicious thugs who murdered the King and Queen...just my luck to be living with a French royalist .

I think that's why the French are so feckin miserable, because they didn't really want to get rid of the monarchy, and think that they can't be real snobs without one.

When the French had a government who were living in luxury while the the man in the street was struggling to get by they chopped their heads off. The Irish gave theirs big fat pensions.

    Vive La France.

    Wine is gay.

The beauty of their women is open to opinion and they only have the nicest language in the world if one could be bothered to learn it.
