Is the radio in a car usually cover under warranty?

I need some advice about this. This is a long one, sorry!

I bought a used car and it is under warranty until the end of the month.

There is a problem with one of the speakers. It works intermittently. I brought this up a few months ago with the dealership as I was dropping my car into their associated service centre for a separate reason. They re-coded the radio and said it should be alright. The problem persisted, but I only brought it up with the dealership/service centre earlier this week when I brought the car in again for a separate problem (I know I should have gone back straight away, but I didn’t).

I got a call off the service centre today. They said they could confirm there was nothing wrong with the wiring of the radio/c.d. system and that I would need to contact the dealership because the speaker problem was specifically about the radio/c.d. system and they wouldn't touch it because another company dealt with the music system for the dealership. I called the dealership and I was told it wasn't covered under the warranty. I was told that you wouldn't find a used car warranty in Ireland or the U.K. that would cover a radio/c.d. system. The warranty, I was told, covers parts essential to the running of the car and the system wasn't essential.

I left it at that and went home and checked my warranty. I couldn't find a single line in it that said anything like what I was told. There is one contentious section that I'm going to ask advice on from a friend, but as far as I can see the guy is lying. However, I can't believe that he would tell such a blatant lie when I have the warranty in black and white, which has made me wary of going back to the dealership and calling them up on it.

On the one hand, from what I was told about my warranty not covering the radio system, I could have bought the car with the warranty and two days after buying the car the system could have malfunctioned and I'd be out on my ass. That doesn't make any sense. Logically it would have to be covered otherwise it's almost like f**king robbery.

On the other hand he surely can't be stupid enough to tell me it's not covered under warranty when in fact it is.

Does anyone know if 'in general' or 'in their experience' are radio/c.d. systems usually covered under used car warranties.

I know the advice will be to check the warranty, but I'm just trying to cover my bases and identify if this guy is trying to rip me off or not.

Is there anything else I should know or say before/when I go back in to this guy?

What explicitly does your warranty says it covers? What car is it?

*Most* used car warranties are for gearbox and engine only.

Most head units and speakers systems that are originally fitted in cars when new are crap. My sister has a 06 Ford Connect and it came with a tape

More than likely yours is a rubbish system. It would be best to fit a decent branded set and then fit the original one back in the car when your shifting it.
