Apple.ie iPad 2 - Wait Times

Hi Folks,

Now that we are well into July does anyone know the current waiting times for iPad 2 from Apple.ie? I know for a while they were shipping from China, is this still the case?

Anyone ordered recently? Looking for the standard 16GB Wifi version.

Website says they are now shipping 3-5 business days.

I ordered one for a friend over two weeks when the site said 2-3 weeks and it arrived in ten days, so supply has improved hugely.

my brother walked in PC World in Airside last week and bought one off the shelf!
no waiting times there!
he bought the 16gb WiFi version in white.

According to the Currys MD on their forum the other day stocks are still pretty slow. He is very good to update for the different stores.

I ordered one Sunday, it was shipped last night. No idea how long shipping takes beyond that.

I got mine in PC World Liffey Valley the week before last.
As mentioned you should check with the guy on the Currys and PC World thread - he's pretty helpful and might be quicker than waiting to get it from Apple.

Hi Guys,

I ordered 2 X Ipad 2's online on the 13th July.

A 16gb black for a friend and a 32 gb black (with engraving) for myself.

It was collected for shipment on the 14th, at the moment it is currently in Hong Kong !

I actually saw them in Liffey valley last weekend myself but never enquired on what stock they had.

Expected Delivery is around the end of next week all going well,

It will BEGIN shipping in 3-5 days. Chances are you'll get it a lot quicker than the 27th anyway.

If you buy through fatchesse.ie they're giving cashback on iPad 2 purchases so it will cost you €455 for a 16gb

The wife went into PC world in Liffey Valley on 6th of July and got a White Ipad2 wifi 32g of the shelf. Last one in stock that day, plent of Black ones though.

Have to say i love it.

Great Birthday present if ya ask me :-)

It's still not shipped; and that's 5 full working days!

Since ordering this, I've ordered a phone from amazon.co.uk, and returned a kindle to amazon.com. I have both of these in my hand. It would be more honest on apple's (irish) store to indicate estimated delivery date.

Wahey! Just received email this evening 21:30. Ipad shipped

So thats 2 business working days from placment of order (4 days including weekend).

Will update on delivery...

I ordered one two weeks ago today.

Ups called to tell me they had a delivery from apple, I was delighted, till I opened the door to discover the man was handing me an envelope with just a smart cover in it.

He said the other part of my package could be here tomorrow as it's on the system that I have another delivery due, but he can't gimme a time/date whe it'll arrive.

Am not impressed with the whole situation at all.

Luckily enough I picked up my iPad brand new off adverts, and the one I'm waitin on is a gift for someone who used mine and has been hounding me for one since, the apple site said when I originally purchased that the iPad itself and the smart cover were shipping from different locations and would be combined before delivery, was actually shocked when I just got handed the smart cover.

Rumours which are most likely bs. Apple have no reason to release a new iPad. The iPad 2 is only 5 months old and they are only just starting to get on top of demand. It makes no sense for them to release a new iPad alongside the next iPhone when they have no competition in the tablet market worth talking about. These new iPad in September rumours have been going around since earlier in the year when it was suggested that the iPad 2 was going to be a minor update, which it wasn't. Jobs also seemed to specifically shoot down the idea there would be another iPad refresh in September when he referred to this being "the year of the iPad 2" in his keynote.

My advice: forget the rumours and buy now. If you want to wait, be prepared to wait until March/April of next year. The blogs have nothing better to do than recycle old rumours from several months back. Anything Apple related gets them loads of hits. The source for most of these rumours are analysts and so-called industry insiders who have a very poor track record for predicting what Apple are going to do.

Just buy one now, as was pointed out already, there won't be a new iPad this side of Xmas.

If the iPad 2 suits your needs now, buy it now, you'll still be able to sell it for a reasonable amount when the next iPad is announced, so just sell on an upgrade when the time comes, if you feel the need.

US shipping times have changed to 24hrs. The Irish store is still at 2-3 business days but it could change soon. Apple seem to be catching up with demand finally.
