    Hi everyone,

New user here so I hope I have posted this in the right place!

Like a lot of people in Ireland these days I am currently out of work and looking for suggestions as to how I might fill my time on the cheap! Would be grateful for any and all ideas you might have....be they cultural, sporting, educational (if there are any free courses out there I'd be very interested), creative etc.

    Hope you can inspire me.....

    Thanks.

Learn a new skill that may help you find work. For example, you can learn pretty much anything about computers from the internet and can easily do small freelance work for friends, family and anyone else you come across. Stuff like web design or repairs.

Learning survival skills for the upcoming zombie apocalypse is also time well spent. Do you know how to desalt sea water? Can you throw knives? Can you build a flash light with random parts in your house?

    You will need:

    1 laptop
    1 broadband connection
1 large bottle of baby oil
    1 pair of rubber gloves
    1 old towel
1 finger in your hole (2 if you want to be an 'expert')

Happy times! You'll get hours of fun from that!!!

do any kids live near you?

if so, go out and buy a pinata and find a nest of angry wasps. place the nest into the pinata; give it to the kids and sit back and watch the fun

You are probably looking for suggestion in a certain area of the country?
Under this heading you can find your local forum and check there, unless you have the dosh to travel nationwide?

On topic, go hiking in Mourne Mountains.

Go see all the stuff where your from that all the tourists go to see that you have never bothered to...I'm planning to do this with a lot of stuff in Ireland that I take for granted that people come from all over the world to see.

    Learn another language.

If you're looking to do some free college courses, this is the right time. The Springboard Initiative is offering free college place for the unemployed:

Also, I don't know what your own interests are but have you ever wanted to do something that you didn't have time for before - if it was me, I think I would take the time to write a book.

Go to the beach/park and lie down in bushes making gunshot sounds everytime someone walks into your field of vision..

That or the police questioning your sanity should keep you entertained for a while
