I was at a wedding there a few years ago.
The service was excellent, the food was gorgeous and the whole set up was great.
It is one of the nicest wedding venues that I have ever been to.

We were going to look at that hotel, but it was closed - double check with them what months of the year they are closed, as they may not be open when you wish to get married.

I'm just back from a two day break there. It has gotten great reviews on Tripadvisor from wedding couples so that's worth taking into account (although, couples always think their venue is the best for some reason...why is that??).

From a non wedding perspective though it was a big disappointment. Hugely overpriced and overrated. It's meant to be 5 star, which is an absolute joke. First thing we noticed was the exterior, old and shabby looking. The inside is worse, straight out of the 1980's (although pretty well maintained). The bedroom we got reminded me of motels I stayed in a few years back in America that were about 30-40 dollars a night. Very basic, small basic bathroom, small old TV, same jarring mismatched furniture and decor. The food and drink was also expensive (30 euro on average for a main course in the restaurant). Breakfast was a very standard buffet.

The only thing that is 5 star about the hotel is the view, which is amazing. We paid 410 euro for 2 nights B&B and 1 dinner. We thought we would get value for money and the hotel looks great on the website, but to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We are not fussy people by any stretch of the imagination, but in these times and considering the value that is out there in other hotels, the Hotel Dunloe need to look at their prices and rating. We did get a room upgrade for the second night after we said we were going to leave early, which was one positive. (The one night B&B option is €180 )
