Freesat sky box

    Hey all

I know if I hook freesat box up to my discontinued sky dish. It should work.

    My question is,

As far as I know the wire running from my dish to the sky box( not in use, just haven't removed it) Is still intact. Though I couldn't be sure. As UPC installers have been on the roof. Can't see why they would interfere though.

Anyways I hooked the scary and power to my old sky box with the signal wire still connected. When I turn the box on it says no signal is been recieved. Does this mean that the wire coming from the dish is not connected properly? Or it mean there is no subscription

    Thanks for any help.

Well you can't be sure what installers did, my brother had cable running everywhere for his tv distribution and sky installers cut every loose wire back to the wall, he wasn't there at the time.

Did you have sky+ or just basic sky? Did they use one of the cables for your UPC?

hey dellwlan, I ain't got a clue if they used any wires for UPC. It was just normal sky, not sky+. All I know is there's a cable black cable connected to the sky box which goes out of the sittin room through the wall and is going up the roof.

See I live in a log cabin out the back and what I was going to do was get the wire coming from the dish and extend it with f connectors and another cable And pop that into a freesat box. As the cabin is only about half the height of the house and is blocked by the house, I was unsure a new aerial on the cabin would work. Also it would be handy if I could just run a wire to the old one instead of buying a new one. I think :? Lol

Did you check your signal strength and quality readings from the system setup menu?

It's possible they might have just knocked it and it might need realigning.
