We have a kero boiler outside, and just noticed in the last couple of days that it's stopped working. Anything quick and easy that I can check before calling a plumber? Yes, there is oil.....

Edit: I've just pressed the reset button, and the heating starts for a couple of seconds before finishing.

Is the weather compensation (if installed)allowing for the boiler to operate?
    Are the valves open?
Is the ciculation pump working? ........

I don't know about weather compensation to be honest.

Valves as much as I can tell seem to be open.

Circulating pump is whirring away quietly, so I suspect it is.

    Couple of simple things...

Has the burner gone to lock out? red light on burner, if so try pressing the button.
Has the boiler overheated?? re-set button usually behind small black button next to thermostat knob.

    If neither....

    Is the pump running ?
Are lights on timer elluminated ??

Turns out 'twas the fire valve - the wheel had separated from the stem (maybe in the heat?) and so it had shut itself off. (No sign of fire!)

Thanks for all your suggestions guys.

Wheel head type valves not permitted anymore, Remote acting fire valves should be fiited.
