Announcing engagement- whats the etiquette??

    Hi,

    We have our wedding booked for late next year, the ring is on order, just waiting on it to come in and for himself to propose properly!!!!:D
    problem is we dont know when to announce our engagement, we have a wedding end of Aug (good friend) and another wedding start of Nov (my boss), should we announce mid sept or leave it until after the Nov wedding? I don't want to upset the brides,

    any thoughts on whens the best time or what is the etiquette?

    Now is fine. The reason you avoid announcing an engagement at/around a wedding is so that people aren't fussing over you instead of the bride. Cos that would be rude :p

    Since the wedding is 8 weeks away, you will likely see everyone else before the wedding so your "news" will be old by then.

    Its your engagement, its not like you are getting married the same day! Just announce it

    We were away when we got engaged, I had rang some people to let them know, hadn't gotten around to informing a lot a relations as my mother was going to tell all (with the excitement), but himself updated his facebook status for it and loads found out that way, I was not impressed!

    Once you announce it to family and clsoe friends, it spreads fairly quickly after that!
