Long story short: my son got a txt from O2 about the offer.
I tried on my phone and I got a confirmation SMS.

I don't know if it will work because I have to wait 48 hours, but I've got nothing to loose trying it..a part from the $$ of sending a TXT to 51101 ;)

Silly question, but what happens if you try this on a billpay? Would you get extra minutes?

You don't have to reply to the message as that one is coming from 50020 or something like that (at least that was my case).
    Text bonus to 51101 instead.

I don't think it is applicable to billpay.

I got the confirmation text. They did the same thing last year and the credit was applied after a couple of days so I think it's good, thanks OP.

how much does a text to that number cost? it's not free, iirc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭Daniel S

If you're that cheap, just use webtexts to send it...

I got the confirmation text, but no free credit. Sent it about this time yesterday.

You can send webtexts to the 5***** numbers. But texts to the offer number are free.

I've no cred and not letting me send from phone. Sent from webtext but no reply.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,873 ✭✭✭Skid

Nice one, just sent it and got the confirmation straight away.

I only use the O2 phone as a back up, hardly ever top it up, but I still got the €5 free credit.

The cost of sending a txt to that number is €0.13

I tried yesterday sending a webtext but it failed with the following error:

"We cannot send SMS to numbers starting with: +3535????."

48 hours up and still no credit applied.
I think that the offer may only work on preselected numbers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,797 ✭✭✭bobcar61

Did anyone actually get the free €5 credit? I got the confirmation text saying it would be added to my account within 48 hours, it's over 48 hours later and still no credit has been added.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,265 ✭✭✭RangeR

Got the confirmation but not the top-up

I would say that we need to be patient a little bit more.
We all got the confirmation text from O2, and they tend to fulfill these kind of offers.

For what regards the selected numbers, I would say it doesn't apply since my son got the text about the offer in the first place but he didn't receive yet the 5 euro.

    Have faith...I do!

No bonus credit here yet either. Maybe it'll arrive tomorrow :D

But what gets me confused/suspicious is the line "Effective Date: 22nd June 2011", plus the June 2011 mention in the title...

Aye. But if you look at this (an older offer), it seems the "Effective Date" is the date it stops?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,497 ✭✭✭omahaid

Does this mean this offer finished last month? 22nd June?
