    Morning all,

The good lady and myself are set for Lake Garda in September for a week. We would like to go with the self catering Apartment option, but alas i am having no joy in sourcing anything fruitful.

We intend to stay in Riva Del Garda, do some cycling/mountain biking. Perhap a day trip to Verona/Venice etc.

Has anyone ventured into the Self catering Apartment realm in this area? Any recommendations suggestiond would be mucho appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Stayed in Toscalano Maderno on the west coast of Lake Garda last year in Le Camerine apartment http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/italy/it30.htm

It's right on the lake, with a wonderful garden (worth staying there for the garden alone) and a gate leading directly on to the water.

There are a couple of restaurants, shops and a bakery within easy walk and a weekly market. The more busy town centre with the best pizzarias and ice cream is a 2km walk - but there is a nice lake side pedestrian path

There is a car ferry link to the other side of the lake and the touring boats pull in also.

Lovely spot. Quiet and very relaxed.

We went to Salo in Lake Garda a couple of years ago but we stayed in the hotel Romantik Hotel Laurin

This the ferry service on the lake and will list the timetables . It winds down at the End of September

We took a trip to Venice... it is a seriously long day as the bus goes anti-clock wise around the lake. It was early August, packed, expensive and we left it disappointed.
We also took a bus trip to the Dolomites again long day but worth it, shorter if you are based in Riva.

A trip to Sirmone the other end of the lake is worth the trip on boat.. :)

Riva is the most northern resort on the lake, and the rail connections are on the southern end of the lake.
You will be able to get a regional bus to Verona from Riva, but traffic around the lake can be manic, and it could take some time to get to Verona.
    Its worth the trip though.

To get to Venice you need the train, which can be picked up in Desenzano or Garda.

    Thank you to all!

My next query - are there any flights to Verona from Dublin? I have searched on the usual suspect (aerlingus, ryanair, Etc) but no joy.

There are flights to Bergamo alright, just wondered is/are there any options to get to Verona?

    Thanks in advance.
