    Hi, guys.

I'm looking for someone who has experience in installing HID headlights. I know the experts say this is something 'anyone' can do, but I do not agree. I had a friend help me with the installation of a pair of HID lights on my motorcycle a few years ago, and I was happy I did so.

I'll pay a reasonable sum for anyone in GALWAY who can help me install them correctly and safely.

    Cheers!

I'm in Galway Wednesday and Thursday and have fitted HID's to 3 different cars.

    What Kit?
    What car?

Brand is HID Xenon (i know, sounds generic, right?).

It's on an '05 VW Passat, which has projection headlamps, of course -- and HIDs were an option.

Love the username, by the way. Huge Simpsons fan, here.

Pretty straightforward to be fair. I believe the 05 Passat old shape and new shape had clips to hold the bulbs in place.

I can fit these for you in around 15 minutes. I will be in Oranmore from 1pm - 2pm on Wednesday and 1:30-2:30pm on Thursday if you want help.

just insure that if it is a CANbus equipped car that you have canbus warning cancellors

Well if you want a slightly more complicated install job on a 06 Passat (which has bulb holders that screw on to the back of the headlight, thus you'd need to cut and re-terminate the wiring from the bulb to fit through) then let me know - Dublin/Meath/Cavan area.

Canbus or no canbus on that car?

I have had a 05 B6 and have a B7 model and they worked without the need for Canbus friendly units.

He's bought it now so only one way to find out. :p

I had that issue on the B7 but some models have a different holder. Some have simple metal clips(simple) and others have that nasty black plastic holder.

Solution(for me) = Saw thing to make cut in holder and stanley knife to trim down the plastic on the bulb to sit neatly in the holder.

The kit DOES indeed come with the warning cancelers. Can I call you on Wednesday morning, BeerBaron, and then drive out to Oranmore to meet up for your help?

How about PMing me your mobile number?

Just want to make sure this is done right THE FIRST TIME, you know? I'm famous for botching even the most simple jobs!

I was strongly advised against using Canbus HID's when I installed mine.
I was told they can cause serious damage.

I used Non canbus and recoded to suit

When people say they are installing HID kits, are they just putting them into regular halogen bulb housings scattering the light everywhere?

I see, I was thinking of doing this myself but doing it properly. The proper way though is the expensive way. :/
