Easy. A rat is a wise, intelligent and skilled martial arts teacher who at times may offer advice to Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Someone who pokes their nose into someone elses business and squeals on them, like ratting on someone who is having an affair, or on the dole with a few nixers on the side.

What's the matter OP, someone telling tales on you? That would really cheese me of too. It's just not mice...

What's the reason for being reasonable?

    Is that an unreasonable question?

Rats are various medium-sized, long-tailed rodents of the superfamily Muroidea. "True rats" are members of the genus Rattus, the most important of which to humans are the black rat, Rattus rattus, and the brown rat, Rattus norvegicus. Many members of other rodent genera and families are also referred to as rats, and share many characteristics with true rats.

Rats are typically distinguished from mice by their size; rats are generally large muroid rodents, while mice are generally small muroid rodents. The muroid family is very large and complex, and the common terms rat and mouse are not taxonomically specific. Generally, when someone discovers a large muroid, its common name includes the term rat, while if it is small, the name includes the term mouse. Scientifically, the terms are not confined to members of the Rattus and Mus genera, for example, the pack rat and cotton mouse.

I actually hate the emphasis put on "rats", "snitches", "tattle tales" etc... from a very young age.

There's loyalty, there's adhering to some unwritten code, and there's minding your own business.

But it can be dangerous and unethical to let your fear of being a "rat" prevent you from doing the right thing.

If serious harm has been caused to another person, or some incident or other occurs which goes against your principles, you should definitely tell on the persons involved.

Trickier if you are putting yourself in danger to do so, but you definitely should tell if you can.

Too often you will hear scummy little gimps using this idea of a rat to their advantage , its simple if someone is doing something you know dam well is wrong and affects other people in a very negative way theres nothing wrong with making the situation right, this is usually where gimps with no moral backbone or principles jump on the rat bandwagon.

    u mate are a rat

MY view of a rat is quite different to the common perception. For me it's not about being a rodent, or a snitch. It's about being vermin. It's about being something that is almost universally despised. It's about being something that does no good and is difficult to get rid of.

That to me is a rat.
