    Hi all,

Have an interview with Horwath Bastow Charleton this Friday and was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the interview process who has been through it?

What kind of questions do these guys ask?

    Thanks

What position are you interviewing for and at what level?

    Sorry yeah, forgot about that

I'm going for the audit graduate positions. They re-opened the recruitment last week!

Pretty nervous though, not as much on this message board about the medium firm interviews relative to the top 4

    Don't stress yourself out.

There will probably be two people interviewing, both from audit. Interview will most likely last an hour and they will discuss all results from LC to date, what areas you are now interested in and where you see yourself post training contract.

No need to stress. They are looking for potential, rather than the finished article.

I know a few people in there, my company was a client of theirs, and as a lecturer I have placed my students on internships there. They are mostly sound. I believe it will be a lady interviewing you, I won't name her but she's the audit director there and very decent.

Try to have something to say when they ask you have you any questions. For example, a lot of their clients are hotels, maybe ask something about how NAMA has affected their clients, or something that sounds half-intelligent!

I have heard awful stories from friends about how they treat audit trainees...... do a little research before comitting to a contract with them. Could have been a once off and things may have changed

funny, i've honestly only heard decent things from the people working there, or about to start working there. on the other hand i've heard top 4 stories that would rival Auschwitz. Guess it's just down to who you talk to!

Thanks for the advice anyway, let's hope I get lucky on the day :)

Best of luck just try to be yourself most interviews are competency based so try to have examples fron work, life, college etc. to demonstrate your abilities/talents. Obviously business awareness will be important HBC are in the news a bit recently over hotels and the debt they are carrying so maybe that'd be something to focus on.
