Im thinking of changing my trailed harvester and trailers for a silage wagon. Possibly a pottinger or strautman. Which machine would be the best?

We have strautmann Giga's and are very happy with them. They are good strong machines. We had a pottinger also a good machine except that on the side of a hill we found it unstable and also that the knife is one sided. On the strautmann there is a double sided knife so that when the edge goes you can just turn them.

Strautmann - bearings in the pick up real are a mother xxxxx of a job to replace. Neighbour has one that breaks chains regularly. overall good machine though. Know another guy and has no problems with the chains

neighbour had old krones used to crack on the chassis, dont know what the new ones are like he changed to pottinger europrofi i think, doesent seem to have any trouble with them, what about the mengele or what ever lely call them now, they seem to be built well around the rotor no chains just gear driven, might be worth a look.
That double sided knife on the strautman would be handy

If buying an older wagon look for a euro profi 3 pottinger or a strautmann vitesse 2 H pattern these are good farmer and contractor machines. Plenty of them in Holland.

Strautmann silage wagon supposed to be the best, and they seem to be the best seller
