I haven't worked in the IT sector for three years approx. Previously to this, I worked for 10 years as a software developer. I wish to return to working in the IT sector. Has anyone any ideas on how I can gain employment??

Things change a bit in 3 years so first thing to do is to check out what has changed and how it impacts you. You might be well advised to look at a refresher course in whatever your speciality was.

Secondly, you might hit a bit of an obstacle in explaining why you've been out of things: think about the best way to handle questions in a way that paints you 3 year break in a positive light.

Lastly, try to target companies directly whom you know look for you skillset.

    Good luck.

dont think software dev would change that much. the language might change but the structures and procedures are the same

how about doing a self study on .net and an exam and say thats what you have been doing recently to get back in the market?
