Looking to hopefully buy the flak jacket xlj oakley. Anybody have any insights into why when prescription lenses are put in the price shots up by approx. 200 extra? Any observations welcome.

I bought two sets of prescription lenses for my flak jackets a couple of weeks ago from Halpenny golf in Swords. They took two or three weeks to arrive, but it was so worth it. They are awesome. I ordered two sets of lenses (as I already had frames) and when they arrived, they also gave me a free frame too.

Looking to order a pair, where's the best place around Dub/Kildare for choice/cost? Do they come with original Oakley lenses? Tried to order online, but looks like you order the frames and then take them to your Optician.

Hi Randomer - what type of frame did you go for...also on some forums some people mentioned not to bother with polarised finish and go instead for a G30 black iridium finish...any thoughts?

I already had a few pairs of flak jackets, with non prescription lenses, so just ordered two sets of lenses. But they did include a black frame free of charge.

I got the VR28 and Fire.

The VR28 are awesome in the golf course. Haven't actually used the Fire lenses yet.

How much are we talking about lads, for prescription and frames?

I was on the oakley site and you can get the frames for around €150, i think.... so how much would the lenses be normally?

Mad to get a pair, practicing in the evening i'm loosing a lot of balls into the sun. More often then not, its a "hit and hope" off the tee, walk up and pray its on the fairway.

You are looking at around €150 to €200 for the prescription lenses. If you buy the frames at the same time then the frames will be a lot less than €150.

    Thanks for that.

I've a few pairs of oakleys and different lenses non prescription,
It's a few years since I bought any so things might be different now
But the v28 or maybe g30(I think) are the ones for golf .....the specified ones anyway

The polarised are not great for golf they are ok,fantastic for driving and everyday use, fishing and I suspect skiing
Polarised are all about reducing glare as far as I remember

The other lenses are to help with the green/yellow/brown colours on golf courses

Thinking of getting a pair of half jacket xlj's...

Would people go for the G30 or black iridium for golf?
