if your elligable for back to education allowance then you are elligable to claim while completing work experience.

However, it has also been heard for people who are not on BTEA who under certain circumstances were able to get funding from social welfare while on work experience.

your best option is to talk to your students union, social welfare office, and the finance department in your college for all info regarding this.

If it is placement as part of a degree programme then it is considered academic in nature adn you cannot claim unemployment assistance as you are not "available for and actively seeking work".

If you are in receipt of BTEA then you can continue to receive it for the same reason as above, you are engaged in an academic programme of which this is a part.

i have a question in regards to this. at the end of the academic year (june) you go from BTEA back to JA for the summer and then back onto BTEA in september at the start of the new academic year.

now my work placement for the course i will be doing is in those summer months. so will i continue to receive a BTEA payment instead of being transferred back to JA?

as long as you notify social welfare and provide sufficient evidence from the college that this is college based work placement then yes, you will remain on btea during your time in work placement.
