Hi i am currently studying in Bolton Street. The computer labs are pretty good but i would advise the use of your own laptop. Library staff are pretty helpful. They organise tours of the library at the start of the year to show you the basics.
The campus itself is pretty old but has everything you need really.

    Hi Im a "Bolt" Head,

The buildings are "old" but justify there purpose. Wifi is a dogey in parts. Library staff are lovely. Exams staff can be hit and miss. Admin same as the Exams staff. Lecutures (in Real Estate) are knowledgable in their fields. Computers are slow to start but once they get going there fine except the ones in RM345 (slowest pcs I've seen).

Libaray computers are good if you can get one!!

Any other questions feel free to post!

    R

Good campus I find. Has a large canteen with ok food, the SU has 4 pool tables, couches and a tuc shop. Plenty of computer labs ect... Library is decent.

Bodkins Bar across the road is very handy as well.

The computers are fine, if a little busy a week before exams. I haven't needed or wanted a laptop for the past three years, and I plan to go the next two years without one.

Libary staff are hit and miss, some are a great help, some are very rude.

Food in the canteen is lovely, and there is a Spar and Centra across the road with good deals constantly.

My only real experience of Bolton St. is the canteen which is far, far better than the one in Aungier St. Bodkins is excellent too :)

I applied for a B. Technology degree.... Ah hopefully... I wish offers were out earlier cause its hard if you get offered a place when you have to move up from kerry and organize accommodation.

Compared to UCD, DCU or any of the proper colleges, the place is a dive. Avoid.

Despite the snobby, patronizing views of some, Bolton St. is fine.

I don't think your attituse is very good, how can you just say its a dive?? I know plenty that went to DIT and loved it and got a top class degree at the end of it.

Sorry if were in up to your standards and dont go to "proper colleges"

I went myself, and never went to as I termed it a "proper college". In fact, I'll probably be going back there because I don't have a choice ;)

My advice to the OP, on mature reflection, would be that if a course that's just as good is offered elsewhere, go elsewhere. The course, however, is more important than the location. I just have found that facilities are terrible in Bolton St - very few computers with any internet access, labs restrictive, library in comparison to even Aungier street is nothing short of a joke. Where we were, the rooms we were in smelt of piss - no joke - for the two years I've done to date. Not only that but when it rains you simply can't hear yourself think because of the noise of it on the roof ;)

I think the thing about DIT is that theres a good mix of people, were i know alot of my friends who went to UCD and Trinners hated it because alot of people seemed to think they were better than others like!

But bolton street is grand, same as any other college has its flaws, but few computer labs, alot of confie seats, and Java City... What more do ya need?! Enjoy yourself.... Make sure to to to at least some of freshers week!!

im currently (well hopefully, the odd repeat to do) going into 2nd year of mech. engineering in Bolton St and i can safely say u'll love it there! the people in Bolton St are THE soundest bunch u could meet! Sure there is the odd flaw like slow wi-fi and the library can be full a lot but surely every college has to have some flaws! make sure u do one thing this year, join the karting club in bolton st! I've never had as much craic in my life then what i've had in that club! just get involved in as many clubs and socs as u can and u'll be lovin the place!!:D

Yeah I really liked it. Failed a few exams but that's totally my fault. Didn't bother for some of it, a bit too laid back and passive :P But the other people in the course who tried, even just a little bit, passed all their exams no problem! The lecturers give really good notes so if ya keep on top of them you'll be fine! Lecturers are really approachable if ya have any problems, they're quite good at helping ya out :)
