I have been reading the Ryanair Terms and Conditions webpage and I have not been able to understand if by getting a second bag i get 15 extra Kg or is it still a total of 15Kg to share between the two bags. I've also been checking the internet and there seems to be contradictory reports on it. Anyone traveled lately with Ryanair and can advise?

It's 15kg per bag- not a shared allowance.

A second bag doesn't give you an extra 15Kg. The weight allowance is per passenger not per bag. For an extra fee, you can get 20 Kg. So whether you bring 1 bag or 2 bags, the most any passenger can check on is 20 Kg.

This is wrong. Most airlines operate like this but not Ryanair. They changed the rules a year or so ago. You now get extra allowance when you book a second bag. For your first bag, you can choose between 15kg and 20kg (the latter option is dearer of course). You can then add another bag with an additional allowance of 15kg. So you can take up to 35kg of luggage.

Be careful though: Ryanair are very strict on the weight of individual bags. Even if you pay for a total of 35kg, you will not be allowed to take say 22kg and 13kg, even though the sum is 35kg. The limits are enforced per bag, 20kg for the first one and 15kg for the second.

Fair enough a couple of years ago I paid for two bags and still only had a 15 KG allowance it's obviously changed since then.

The current rules started some time in 2010 I think. I had 35kg of luggage on a Ryanair flight this February (20kg + 15kg), so I know from personal experience that the current rules give you extra allowance.
