Morning after pill help

    Hi,

regular poster going unregged. I'm not looking for medical advice but does anyone know if it is possible to take the morning after pill twice in one cycle? I'm not in the position of relying on it for normal contraception but I've had 2 incidents in the past week and I'm pretty scared.

The first time I took it was on day 6 of my cycle (which was the last day of my period) last Monday. I've been off hormonal contraception for 3 months and have been using condoms with my boyfriend. The condom broke and, being the paranoid soul I am, I decided to be safe rather than sorry.

We had sex earlier today and didn't realise until more than an hour later that the condom was still inside me. I feel so stupid but am absolutely terrified. I will be going to see my GP instead of getting it over the counter on Monday anyway but if anyone could provide any advice I'd really appreciate it.

I doubt a GP will give you the MAP twice in one cycle but that's something only your GP will be able to tell you.

It seems pretty clear that either you or your partner may not be putting on/know how to put on condoms properly so perhaps you need to get back to basics and make sure this is being done properly. If you're relying on them as your sole method of contraception then you really need to be pretty clear on how to use them properly.

Your doctor will give you the best advice but I really doubt he will recommend taking it again so soon. I read somewhere that the MAP has as many hormones as 6 months of a birth control pill..that's a LOT of hormones in a short space of time for any womans body, I can't imagine taking it twice in one week tbh. If condoms aren't working and you don't want to get the pill maybe talk to your doctor about the implant, injections, or some other method of birth control, it will really mess up your body if you have another accident with the condoms in the future and need another MAP. Good luck!

What worries me is that he didn't miss the condom right after sex

The doctor is expensive so you can also ask your pharmacist in private for advice. I'm not an expert so other posters feel free to contradict me but when i went for the morning after pill before i was told that you can take it as often as you like. even though i do agree it is a big dose of hormones it is better to be safe than sorry and if you were going to go for an abortion that will cause far worse damage to you mentally and physically than the MAP would
