I'm looking at getting one of these and i just have a few questions about them.

Can it record from satellite and terrestrial at same time?

It mentions in the details that it has a card reader that will allow you to watch any pay tv. Does this mean it will accept a paid sky subscription card?

Did you read the thread on it? It will record a digital bterrestial channel & at present you can watch any other DTT channel or a Sat channel. You can record a sat ch, but you can only watch a DTT ch or any other sat ch from the same transponder As there is only one cable coming in for Sat , you cannot do as you would with $ky+. It can read a $ky card and youy can get software that will allow you to insert any card;)

I installed my ferguson combo box today with no problems.
I'm  just curious about a single percentage bar which Is located on the menu bar underneath the program listing. Its not the double signal percentage bars at the side but the single one. What is this for?

Great box easy to set up.

It stats what % of the programme you have watched

Excuse my ignorance here, but anyway; in at the deep end. I've just got one of these units and am very impressed with it. What i need to know is how do I go about viewing Sky Sports through the box? I am a current subscriber. After you've inserted your card, do you need to do any updating to the box (firmware etc)? Also, whereabouts on the EPG are your subscription channels (Sky Sports in my case)? Many thanks.

Didn't realise you had to scan for them. I just thought they would appear on the EPG when the card was inserted. Will do that now. Thanks.

Tried a complete scan of the unit, but I still can't get Sky Sports up on it. Any ideas out there? Pretty please, with sugar on top!

Make sure you have not select FTA only for the search

You need a valid sky sub card.

We have a winner. Only thought of it this morning. Cleared all the channels and re-scanned for all channels before I left for work. Checked this evening and most of them are there now. Not SS2 HD or SS4 HD though. Will do a scan for those individual channels though. Thanks for all the replies gents (and ladies?).

Yes I have the white Freesat from Sky card in the box. Fat lot of channel you will get with it though:rolleyes: . How about this lot? Sony TV, 5*, 5 USA and other 5s, Pick TV & +1.Not exactly awe-inspiring, but then each to their own.

Note you can only have this card delivered to a UK address. So get working on family/cousins, if getting this card is a must. Costs £25.00.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the latest upgrade has accomplished over version 2.15B8 so I can decide whether to flash the box or not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,907 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

AFAIK, this latest upgrade was to iron out bugs on the ethernet radio side. My advice would be if it ain't broke don't fix it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,340 ✭✭✭✭Tony

I've made up a basic free to air channel list embedded in the latest firmware which can be got here http://www.mediafire.com/file/frz54tnv1fjabra/SAT.IE120Combo_2.15B8_20110410.abs

Please use with caution as you can damage your box if you do not follow the upgrade instructions carefully.

Please let me know if you think any FTA channels are missing or you might like to do a bit of editing to make your own list.

I have a Ferguson Arivia 120 HD Combo.
From reading the other posts, it looks as though it doesnt play .avi files (video codec not supported) as well as .mkv files, which is very disappointing. It is however playing my mp4 video files but some of those have the subtitles on as default and I cannot turn them off. Tried the yellow subtitle button on the remote, nothing. Tried the subtitle settings in system setup, OSD, and its already configured as off.

Anyone know how can i turn off the subtitles?

It is not the .avi format that is the problem ....... it is the codec used on the video.

List of compatible codecs are in the manual.
Use a compatible one and it will play the .avi file.

You cannot turn them off if they are hard coded.

The 120 boxes do not support Divx/Xvid. They do support AVI.

    The 150/250 boxes support Divx/Xvid.

I was told that if i delete the .srt file (hidden file) from the same dir as the video, then the subtitles wont appear. I have to try it out.....

My understanding is that when recording something in TS it should show subtitles on replay if required.Yet when I press Sub.t button on replay nothing happens.Anyone know why its not recording sub titles.?

Have you checked the contents of the TS file to see if the sub titles have indeed been recorded?

No-don't know how -or indeed why u would. It's states in the manual that the function is available providing it was recorded in TS.So that seems pretty clear-but I have yet to succeed in getting them.

I posted this a while ago but didn't get much response.Last night I discovered something odd.I put on the final episode of a series I recorded and switched on Subtitles before I began replay-and there they were.Yet if I try to turn them on during playback I get the "No Data" message.Odd -but there we are-someone might find that useful.

Hi Tony, I tried to download the latest firmaware and channel list that you put up in this forum but when I go to the link it says that the link is set to private, any chance you could send me the link,
    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,340 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Sorry I'm not sure what link you are referring to as I've not done a channel list for the latest 120 firmware yet. I'm sure one of the other guys can upload a list for you though.

Edit: I see what post you are referring to now but that was posted in 2011

Well if you are comfortable using a USB key you can get hold of a channel list from one of the other guys here which will do a complete list in order for you . Otherwise you can do a single transponder scan using the info contained here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055520627
