why is it that GAA supporters will always park on paths, on grass and virtually in your driveway rather than parking a bit away and walking ???? match on here today and cars all over the green where the kids play. Gardai don't want to know about it, GAA don't want to know and. we never have it when theres a rugby match on - park and ride is used and no cars disrupting traffic or play areas. Whats it with GAA supporters ?? and just to clarify, I do follow and support GAA sports but have never parked on grass areas or foothpaths.

I assume you're in Limerick? I agree with you, around the Gaelic Grounds can be a nightmare on match day, Thomond Park never so bad, as you say there's a lot of Park and Rides setup, then again there's only half the crowd there.

In fairness, people will make an effort not to block entrances.

full house in Thomond Pk is 26k and last 2 matches in gaelic ground less than this so that doesn't explain the volumes. bloody laziness and incompetance of GAA to organise Park and Ride. But there seems to be a different attitude between GAA and rugby supporters. We'd still have cars from the rugby suporters but not ON THE GRASS. bit more respect from these supporters me thinks.

You also have to keep in mind the people going to rugby matches as oppsed those attending GAA matches. Those attending Rugby would be more familar with Limerick and would be more aware of suitable parking locations. GAA supporters might only be at Limerick once or twice a year so wouldnt be as aware of the the area.
Also, the Park and Ride facilities as you say would make a huge difference.

knowing where your going has nothing to do with parking on a children's play area.

Seen this at venues all over the country. It is definitely a GAA thing. I am convinced there is a mini competition going on between some people to see who can park in the most awkward and disruptive place - the winner is the person who gets their reg no. read out on the public address system. Obviously parking somewhere with a NO PARKING sign or Gardai cones is against the rules so they park in places where it is so obvious you are not supposed to park there that they didnt bother putting up a sign (ie. the green area children play on).

Limerick is a balls for parking though... The first place that you find there you'd be inclined to fly straight into it!!!!

When I went to park my car yesterday in my usual spot for matches a guard had the road blocked. Fair enough I thought so I parked it up on the North Circ blocking no entrance and walked down.

On the way out of the stadium I was greeted by a line of cars where I had intended to park. All C regs. Look after yer own first in future members of an Gardai:D. Garda in question must have clocked off at three.
