Canon Eos Rebel XS/1000D - any substantial difference between US/EU models?

    Evenin' all.

I'm bored and tracking some cheap 2nd-hand 1000Ds on the Bay. Apart from the plug for the charger, is there likely to be any problem buying a US Rebel XS rather than a EU 1000D model? I'm not looking at anything with a warranty, so that's not an issue. I've looked at a few on adverts, too, but there's a big price difference... (like <$250 vs >€350) Caveat emptor an' all that, but sometimes people set up their ads badly on eBay and you can nab a bargain.

A friend will bring it home next month, so I'm not throwing money at postage either.

    TIA

AFAIK, the US and EU models are identical. Warranty, power plug and VAT
are the main issues. If you aren't worried about any of these, the Rebel
    will be just fine.

There is no difference. The naming convention exists only to identify which market the camera came from. They all use exactly the same firmware updates for example,

The only difference is the name badge and charger plug.

If the camera is "grey market" however Canon will usually refuse to repair it.

    Cheers lads.

I just missed one earlier (with the 18-55mm IS kit lens) that went in the end for $202/€140 + €10 UPS ground shipping. At that kind of price I think I'll take a punt...
