Well lads, I was just browsing through the internet and saw a video on the new iphone 5 and what they think it'll be like. I have the iphone 4 32 gb but I would like to upgrade to the iphone 5 when it comes out. How much do ye think I should look for when selling the current iphone? I would then put the money towards the iphone 5. Thanks for your help in advance!!!

You're better off checking on adverts.ie and see how much they're going for. It's a pretty good/fair guide as to what to expect.

It really depends when it comes out, but if you sell it before the release date then probably 350-400. But you might only get 250 once its out.

What will the new phone have extra from the iPhone 4 ?

You can get €200 trade-in value for a 3GS in Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone, so you could definitely sell one yourself for a bit more than that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,540 ✭✭✭freeze4real

hahaha you sell to the fools that no nothing or little about iPhone's.

I sold my 3gs to a guy for 300 and i bought another for 210.

    I call it smart business.

My sources at Apple answered this for me today:

    A "5" instead of a "4".

    ;)

i hope iphone 5 comes soon, have the 32gb 3gs its good but music and apps have it full and the battery drains mad quick take it off charge at 8:30am by 5pm its on 20% and its doing nothing just in my pocket but get an odd text and call

what specs do people think the new one will have?

i hope it has a 64gb version, 4" edge to edge screen, more pixels, 8mp camera with obviously iOS5 on it

I heard September in the States. And I'm in the States in September.

I have a perfect condition unlocked 32GB iPhone 4, with it's original packaging and everything, so when I sell mine to fund an iP5 I'll be looking for at least 350-400.

às long as Appple don't release 2 phones like it's rumoured with one of them being a 4s for the pay as you go market...it could kill your price ;)

Thats changed in the last month or two. You can now buy iPhones from an apple store like any other product.

Gas how people are here talking about wanting to buy an iPhone 5 before we know anything about it!

You wouldnt buy a car without test driving it!

What is there to test drive though? Everyone is familiar with the software. The form factor is likely to be the same, just faster, more memory, larger screen, etc.

Only until the next one is announced, I think. That seems to be their usual practice. Contract only or locked when the new models come out.

These are totally unlocked devices, the deal with Verizon ended the AT&T exclusivity of the market. The iPhone is sold just like any other Apple product now in the States.

ive decided 16gb just isnt enough for me,its going to be a 32gb iphone 5 (or 4GS or whatever) when its out.

price wise, what are we looking at?similar/same price as the iphone 4?
will be out of contract with 3 in march of next year or can get an upgrade from them in january i think...the 32gb iphone 4 was €319 to a first time customer when i signed up (i went with the €219 16gb)

    same-ish prices again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,534 ✭✭✭✭guil

depends what sort of upgrade system 3 use and what level you have, when i was with o2 i had a gold and silver upgrade available, gold gave the same discount as someone siging up to their advance 350 package and silver gave the same price as someone signing upto advance 150

150 was the lowest price plan with 350 being the second lowest

Just give me 64gigs or more. That's all I want. Hate having to pick and choose which music to sync to my phone.

i don't think the iphone 5 (or 4gs) is coming this year:

Steve Jobs said. 'Right now, we're very focused and excited about bringing iOS 5 and iCloud to our users this fall,' he added.

As Apple have released new Hardware today to coincide with Lion, I'm sure Apple will be pulling out new devices to coincide with the release of iOS 5.

    exactly!

reuters reported this first back in about may or so.

plus it makes sense that theres a new phone on the way when you can get them for free on so many networks now, they are clearing stock.

(was surprised to see you can still get a new 3gs on o2 actually!)

Good slant on the whole biz this!

You talk to one person who knows someone ITK who says 4S and the other ITK says a 5!

Mad - This is like the Chip speed/HDD madness of the early 90's :D

Possible sighting of the iPhone 5:

    iphone51.jpg?w=657&h=879

    iphone-5.jpg?w=657&h=879

It's too square to be a 3GS, and too rounded to be an iPhone 4. Of course, it could just be a knock-off either.

Its unreal. Pretty much a month or two after a version is released, there's already speculation on the next one. 'Ooh maybe I shouldn't buy iPhone 5 'cos iPhone 6 is just 10 months away'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭LightningBolt

To be fair I can fully understand people being reluctant to buy an iphone 4 on contract right now seeing as there's likely to be an iphone 5 released in the next two months or so.

It's is pretty ridiculous when people start nextgen iphone threads within weeks of a new model being released though.

This thread was only started 3 weeks ago. That's what happens when you but Apple gear, you have to expect updates within 1 Year or less. In the iPhone 5's case, it will be about 15 months. If the iPhone 4 suits your needs, buy it and don't look back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,324 ✭✭✭chrislad

I would have no hesitation in advising people to get the iPhone 4 rather than wait for the 5 (or whatever). The 3GS is a non runner, mainly to due partial compatibility with iOS 5.
