Urgent tests / cancellations and three week wait between tests?

Failed the test today for four grade 2s on the same line for one technical problem I've never encountered before with double traffic lights (unfair IMO), and didn't get another grade 2 or 3 for the entire test. Everything perfect.

I have a family medical emergency requiring me to have a license ASAP and now this setback really put a strain on things.

I rebooked online immediately and called the helpline to check for cancellations, only to be told you must wait three weeks between tests before they'll even check for you (can't find where the RSA site states that at all).

Has anybody else applied for an urgent test, and if so, how long did it take?

And does anybody know where this three week wait came from?

    Hi

I was met with the same stone wall response when to get a cancellation. Still got another test a month later so can't say that wasn't fair.

I don't know where it states that etc but I have never encountered someone getting a test sooner than that. The Uk also has a similar policy I believe.

The way I look at it, sure beats the six months to a year of a few years back:)

Do you mean a month later, after the three weeks? (7 weeks?)

Yeah it beats 6 months, it's just disappointing they're still under-staffed when you need a licence urgently.

I know what you mean. What they mean Is there has to be a min of 3 weeks between the tests you sit . I booked mine end of January and got it feb24th which was well over 3 weeks. In other words, once 3 weeks has elapsed, you could get a cancellation the next Week or even day after that set period if you see what I mean:)

Apologies for not fully understanding here, but did you have to wait three weeks before booking again at the end of January? (So you had your first test at the start of January? Or was your first test end of January and you booked again right away?)

Sorry, should have been more clear. Yes i had to wait three weeks but they gave me a date about 3 weeks After that. There's no reason why that test couldn't have been the next day if I had got a last min cancellation.

No problem at all, understand perfectly now! :)

Fingers crossed then, thanks for the info!

A pupil I had recently failed and re-sat her test 13 days later. Call them!

    Wow!

That would be incredible. Could you please offer any more details? (Feel free to PM)

How soon after did they call? Was there an emergency? Anything other info that would help?

I did call them but was told it'd take three weeks before they even put me on the list. Maybe I should try with another call. Another operator may be more helpful.

She failed, reapplied within a day or two. Called up, on my advice, asked for a cancellation and was given a date which was 13 days after her previous test. No emergency.

    She passed

Good to hear, thanks for the info. More hopeful now anyway!
