    2012.
    Not this Christmas.
Most likely next summer or Christmas.

My magic 9 balls tell me they're not going to do the 3DS thing again, and will wait for Christmas time.

I believe at E3 they'd stated it would be a Summer 2012 release. That way they can once again not have any useful release titles and milk everyone's wallet again with a Mario title at Christmas. If they want to hook in serious gamers once again they need to have it in houses for some time before the Christmas releases come about.

The core system has been out about three years now - http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-4000/hd-4800/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-4800-overview.aspx

When will they release the joypad? Prob next year.

The only time I've heard them giving was business talk for after march 31st 2012.

Please don't tell me that you thought the controller was all the Wii U is?
It's a new console AND a new controller...

Lol come on lads, I'm not that bad. It was my tongue-in-cheek way of saying the Wii U is based on the Radeon Rv770, which has been out since around 2008. Though given Nintendo's E3 presentation, one would be forgiven for thinking it was just a joypad.

..If they were just watching the conference, and had no knowledge of how computing works.

Everyone knew there was a new console, not peripheral.
It's just plain silliness that anyone thought a controller was upscaling and detailing games from a Wii box.

Did anyone really think that though? Are you denying 99% of the presentation was on the controller, over the console?

Well, the Wii was exactly the same, no? It wasn't codenamed Revolution because of its specs. No harm.
