Another Mistake- I powerhosed the Crank-Set

Hi all,Just wondering if anyone could confirm how much damage I have done

.I powerhosed my Cube Acid at home. Went fairly close with the hose around the Crank-set

Only realised that something was wrong last night when I was oiling the chain and I noticed resistance in the Crankset when I turned the pedals.

Had a quick look on-line and saw that it should never really be power-hosed.Have I blown all the grease out.If anyone would have any advise on a solution or how big an issue this is it would be much appreciated.

I have searched through various threads and forums but could not find a similar issue.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks B

Bring it to a mechanic for a opinion. You may have made a mess of the Bottom Bracket. Theres no need to powerhose a bike.

If you don't have the tools/know-how I'd take it to my local shop and get them to drop the crank out and regrease it - only takes 5 minutes.
The only problem left is you might have washed some grit into the bearing pack and that may cause some binding.
I never powerhose my bikes - not even my MTB when its caked in cr@p

You've probably destroyed your bottom bracket. A new one is €20. A cheap lesson never to use a powerhose on a bike :)

If you went near the wheels I would also ask them to service the hubs while it's in there.

    Cheers for that all,

Ya I think I pretty much gave the whole bike a good blast, hopefully I havent done any further damage.

    Back to Bike Shop again.
Another Lesson learned, although at the moment they all seem to be through the hard way.

Wait till you start buying the wrong sized parts online. My least favorite lessons.

    @happtramp,

Ya I think that is all ahead of me all right.

So far in the last 6 months, oil onto the Brake pads, chain snapping half-way around the White-Trail in ballyhoura with no chain tool.

And now power-hosing the life out of my bike.

    Fun Times
