Door Sills?

    Hi

I'm looking for some help. I have built an extension. Still at sub floor but walls up and roof on. I am now getting my doors & windows in. I got a quote I'm happy with but now I've been advised that I need sills for the doors. I'm getting a new back door on the extension and new patio doors on the extension.

So because I don't have my finished floor in yet there is still a big step down from existing interior floor to floor in extension so seems that I need these door sills. I've called 2 different builders providers who don't know anything about them. Maybe I have the wrong terminology? From what I understand these are concrete and the new doors will sit on top of these sills and the sill supports the frame? Is there any other benefit to this? Do I really need these?

    Thanks a mil in advance
    Emma

    Hi Emma,
You should get a good local Architectural Technician to do a detail for your builder, there is no need of an actual sill, just a good threshold make-up detail to incorporate DPC and insulation.

Did you have someone do an original drawing for you? Would they be able to detail this?
