Aer Lingus Baggage refund if don't check in bag?

    Hi all,

I'm flying with Aer Lingus tomorrow and had originally anticipated needing a bigger bag than I have now packed. I had booked in one bag each way but now that I might not need to check one in, is it possible that Aer Lingus will refund the cost of checking a bag in? I'm guessing what the answer is.

Even if I don't get a refund, if I decide to keep the smaller bag as a cabin bag will there be any issue? Can you just decide not to check a bag in and a) there be no hassle and b) you don't need to let the airline know the change of plan?

    Thanks in advance...

    Cat
