    Hi All,

I wonder can anyone help me with this one:

My uncle is out of work since 2007 due to health problems. He was asked to provide his P60 (preferably for last 2 years of employment) in one of the institutions. He rang up local tax office looking for copies of P60 and P45. He was promised that these will be send out for him. 7 days later letter arrived and all it had inside was P21.

Can anyone advise where can he get this sorted quiet quick as he was waiting till last minute and time is catching up on him now?

    Thanks a lot...

His P60 is issued by his employer and a copy is retained by his employer .

The employer is duly obliged to keep at least 7 years on file .

He would have been given a copy of this P60 shortly after year end year on year

So if he cannot find his original P60's , then his next port of call is his employers .

P21 should do the job, ask the institution.

It contains all P60 information that Revenue are aware of for an individual. A financial institution should actually probably ask for a P21, as anyone can just get a blank P60 and write whatever figures they like on it. (and indeed this was known to happen regularly during the boom, in the obtaining of finance...)

Or a person who had 2 jobs might only produce one of them, if that's what suits them... so P21 is a much more reliable source of information.
