Thanks. Ill call in to some of them shops tmw, see what the prizes are. Not really meant to be doing 10milers but, wouldnt mind a shot at it being a hometown race etc

Just checked the run Ireland website. The race organiser is a poster here. You could pm him or even easier ring the contact mobile number.

    Hi Folks,

Ok, I have mapped out the route on gmaps

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4638935

Entry fee is €15 for the 10 miler, and €8 for the fun run. You can enter online at Runireland, and also entries will be taken on the day of the event up to 30 mins before the start.

This is the first running of the event, so we are unsure of numbers, but we are getting a lot of interest in the event.

The event is part sponsored by the Four Seasons Hotel, and first prize in both the mens and womens event is 2 nights Bed and Breakfast, plus and evening meal in either their Monaghan or Carlingford Hotel. There will be cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd, and also cash prizes in the masters catagories.

Let me know any other questions you may have, and I will try answer them.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I'm not familar with the area, is it a flat course.

If you following the link to Gmaps there is a elevations profiler tool there also.

It is ralatively flat. A few minor hills, but nothing huge. When selecting the route we tried to make it as flat as possible.

Looks like a nice course for the race there Domer. About as flat as you'll get in and around Monaghan town.

The hill coming up from the river out of Ballinode will probably catch a few people out.

Best of luck with the event.

    just home from race..

Testing course...no shortage of hills..in hot weather.
was thinking at one stage "the frank duffy was never this tough"!!

still a pb and rumour has it 2nd in O45..wonder do i get a pressie?!!

    59:24 by my watch..though i think it was a bit short..garmined @ 9.93
well done to the organisers on 1st race and to the 4 Seasons for the showers after! most welcome

Not bad for €15...plenty of bananas, water, 3 water stops on course

I agree. I also measured the course as a little short but everything else was well done on the day. 1:06:xxx fro me which was pretty much where I thought I would be, but disappointed to fade quite badly in the last couple of miles.

Attached are the results of the Monaghan 10 Miler

Thanks for all the positive feedback and for supporting the event. Please put it in your diary for next year!!

The excel file is not showing the time in the correct format. If you reformat the field it will work fine, otherwise, I am attaching a PDF.

Good race, happy not to have been last :) and get a small (but meaningful) pb. I measured it a wee bit short too but wondered if we were supposed to go round the roundabout at the end of Dublin st but were marshalled off to the right? Were also marshalled on to the footpath anywhere there was one so that may have shortened it a bit from the measured route? Coming out from the end of the mall road maybe needs a bit more attention but marshalling etc overall was great. I'll definitely be back next year. If the heat could be turned down a bit next time it would also help :pac:

Thanks to all involved in this race.Good tough run. Hill after hill in hot conditions us irish arent too used to.Roads not closed but it was well marshalled and not a lot of traffic anyway. My garmin said 10 miles also. You should advertise this as a good hard run. theres a lot of people after a challenging run, not a p.b.. I know this will stand to me should I do an autumn marathon.
thanks again and maybe if it grows , you can close the roads and have a race as big as Ballycotton but easier to get to. Aim to fill The Four Seasons with athletes...
