Job Seekers Benefit: Found Job: Paid Next Month

I've been on the job seeker's benefit for nearly 3 weeks now. I start my new job at the middle of this month. I don't get my first payment in this job until the end of August. I have a meeting next week with the SW officer.

Do I tell them my situation? Or do I wait until the week before I'm paid before I tell them about the job?

If they take away my money I won't have anything for a month and a half. Surely there's a system in place?

    All advice appreciated.

Take to the welfare about it. They will probably find out eventually that you were working while claiming to be on the dole and then there could be a load of ****e.

I think the person there is the welfare officer, or something like that. They might be able to sort something out for you.

if you tell them or not, they pull it back out very quickly when you get paid :)

If you still get the dole while waiting to be paid in a job, you can work out repaying the social welfare back on a weekly/monthly basis after you get paid, like 10 a week or whatever. I wouldnt tell them until you get paid, dealing with them can be a hassle (they have already lost countless forms that I handed in) and you may end up with no dole for the month.

Thanks for the replies. I just don't want to end up going to court over not declaring something. But how am I meant to survive if they take my money away? I need and want this job but because of student loans etc I have no savings to support myself in this situation.

Does anyone know if they will actually cut me off ? I've been searching online for information on this but nothing is coming up. I asked the bank for an overdraft but they won't approve it on account of my loan.. So I don't know what to do.

I know of someone that did it and they just sent him a letter asking to repay the amount he was "overpaid" and he just paid back x amount each week/month from his wages. However that was awhile ago. You could go into the dole office and the community welfare officer and tell them you "might" be getting a monthly paid job and if you did, is there any provision for you to get some € before your first wage. But dont tell them you have a job yet.

I hope someone here can help with my question. So for the last four years I went to university straight from secondary school. I finished there in May and due to not being able to get work I had to seek job seekers benefit. I have now been offered a research postgrad position and I'll be a UCC student. Although the academic year and registartion for UCC starts at the end of September start of October, I have been asked to start the research in a weeks time which is start of August. Am I entitled to still claim until I get registered or because I have started the research should I come off it? I am also getting a scholarship for the postgrad but not sure when the installments come through? please help I dont want to be done for fraud.

Once you aren't available to work I don't think you can claim JSB.
